Wood work

Working with wood is particularly interesting. It feels much more like working with something that is alive. It reminds me of working with people or on oneself.
I have learned just how unyielding wood can be when you are trying to carve it against the grain rather than going with it. This can really change one’s perspective.
You need to work with the material rather than try to force it into submission. You need to take more time observing and planning.
Sometimes you might need to take the long way around to get to what you want to achieve.
The first things I have ever carved were a couple of wands for a magical school LARP I attended with a friend. These days I am mostly working on monsters and animal figures.
