Welcome to my website! ^_^

My name is Nina and I consider myself a passionate and resourceful individual with many abilities, interests, and hobbies.
My strength comes from thinking and working at the crossroads of multiple domains. While sometimes not matching the efficiency and performance of a specialist, I thrive in roles that require a wider perspective and an understanding of the messy interweaving of factors and domains.

I often find myself oscillating between 2 registers - that of an experimental doer and that of a deep thinker. These modes might get into intense internal quarrels if isolated.
That’s why I perform best where I can interface with multiple aspects of practice and with a varied group of people. The perspective shift others bring to the table is essential to my process. With that by my side, I can easily morph between being a driver, facilitator, and executor.

Ideally, I am looking for stable employment within a flexible multi-disciplinary company. Somewhere I can continue to grow and shift between domains.

What I bring to the table

Knowledge about children’s cognitive development, education and playful disposition

As a graduate of the Primary and Preschool Education specialization at the A.I. Cuza University of Iasi, I have the theoretical foundation to be working for and with K-6 children.
I am experienced with practical aspects in educating children ( adapting the curriculum, drafting lesson plans, formulating learning objectives, creating learning materials, etc. ).
I greatly value play and I ascribe to the philosophy of learning by doing.
Because of my interdisciplinary background, I have previously researched for and worked towards creating prototypes that mesh play and games with learning. I have formed personal stances and ideas on how to approach playful education and I am really excited about sharing what I know.

Familiarity with the discourse in Game Studies and with the practice in Game Development environments

Excited by play and games, I went on to pursue a Master Degree in Game Design at the IT University of Copenhagen.
This have given me the theoretical and skills foundation to tackle a variety of roles within the Game Development Industry.
I am familiar with a great part of the discourse surrounding Games.
I have also worked within the domain and I’m acquainted with the logistics of both long-term projects and the inner workings of everyday work. I have actively used version control, task management systems, design wikis and other such gizmos.
My art, design and basic coding abilities allow me to communicate my ideas clearly and to have a better overview of how things interface. I have a trained critical eye and good analysis skills allowing me to deconstruct games and playful experiences.
I believe that this knowledge and versatility can make me a valuable addition to many projects.

Ability to conduct research in interdisciplinary contexts

My most recent dabbling into doing research as a profession has given me insights into different data gathering methodologies and design methodologies. I also engaged in compiling unstructured literature reviews on particular research topics, making conceptual connections between different fields and in conducting a field study from start to finish. I am, therefore, familiar with creating study proposals, consent forms and information documents for study participants. I also have experience with transcribing, processing and translating data into design implications or criteria.
I am particularly fascinated about reflective practices in design and practice-driven research. I value the design process much more than the design product, which is why during the last years I’ve been learning about methodologies to evaluate the practice.

Commitment to personal growth and enthusiasm about supporting the growth of others

I am committed to my own growth and the growth of those around me.
I am just as excited about discovering or learning something new as I am about assisting and supporting the ones around me.
This commitment drives me on a personal and professional level and keeps me focused on what I think is most important in both these domains: the process.
